Facebook Integration on Your Network

Facebook is an effective tool for members to spread the word about your Ning Network and drive membership. You’ve always been able to share photos, videos and any other content using the Share feature. With Facebook integration, members can easily and quickly share and syndicate content with their Facebook friends without leaving your Ning Network.

To enable Facebook integration on your Ning Network, head over to the My Network page and click on the Facebook link in the “Tools” section or the Facebook icon in your shortcuts. Follow the steps provided in this tutorial to get started.

Share content from your Ning Network
Once the integration is set up, it’s simple for members to share content from your Ning Network with their Facebook friends.

Here’s what a published post will look like when it is displayed on the member’s Facebook profile page and their friend’s News Feed.

Each post will be branded with your Ning Network name and logo in the lower left corner of the post. If the content the member is sharing is private — or if your Ning Network is private—the member will still be able to share content, but the post will not include thumbnails or text excerpts on Facebook.

Syndicate status updates from your Ning Network
In addition to helping you and members share content, you can also syndicate your status updates. Click the Facebook check box under the Status module from your profile page to post your update to Facebook. Your status update post will display on your profile page and in your friends’s News Feed.

People can become fans of your Facebook App
Once you’ve created a Facebook App, Facebook members who see posts in their News Feed coming from your Ning Network can become fans of your Facebook App. To become a fan of your Facebook App, click on the Facebook App name or the Ning Network logo located at the bottom left corner of the post which will link to your Facebook App page.

If you already have created a Facebook Page for your Ning Network and would like Facebook members to become fans of your Facebook Page instead, you can add a link to your Facebook Page on your Facebook App so that members can be directed to your Facebook Page and become fans of your Facebook Page.

We recommend that you continue using your own Facebook Pages as you always have as well as creating a Facebook App so that members can share content from your Ning Network with their Facebook friends by posting to Facebook directly from your Ning Network that are branded with your Ning Network name and logo.

Post directly to your Facebook Page
As a Network Creator, you have the option to post to your own Facebook Page instead of your personal Facebook profile page.  This is a great way to quickly share content to your Facebook community.
