It’s that time of year again — the days leading up to New Year’s, when I realize I only have few more weeks to work on my 2007 New Year’s Resolutions. One of my resolutions last year was to “learn to cook,” a vague and lofty goal I haven’t made much progress on to date. So I was very excited to discover Activecooks.com, a network aimed at aspiring home chefs like me.
I’ll let the Network Creators describe their network for you: “You can upload videos and photos of your favorite recipes, watch videos, learn recipes from others, and connect with Home Chefs from around the world. Our mission is to create a community for you to share your favorite dish, a piece of yourself, and your culture with the rest of the world.” They have over 1200 videos with cooking tutorials for everything from Chinese Chicken Cream Corn Soup to Easy Fried Tofu to Egg Pie. This network is great for people who like watching the step-by-step crafting of a dish before attempting it themselves.
ActiveCooks.com makes great use of our tag feature by tagging the most important ingredients. For example, in this recipe for delicious fried tofu, SouthernVegan has added the tag “onion.” Clicking on “onion” directs you to other dishes on the network using onions.
