She blinded me with MySDscienceNing Network Spotlight
I don’t know about you, but I love reading the latest in science research. For instance, I was wowed by this recent blog post from MySDscience, a social network for science in the San Diego area. A cancer vaccine developed from tobacco plants? That’s crazy!
Only problem is, I’m as easily confused by science publications as I am impressed by them. Fortunately, MySDscience has me covered there too. Part of the mission of the network is to increase education and interest in all sorts of scientific fields. To help achieve this, San Diego will launch its first science festival in March of 2009. With more than 250 events already scheduled, it looks like it’s going to be huge.
In the meantime, release your inner Poindexter at the videos page, where you’ll find cool experiments, a talk show, and even a biology TA moonlighting as a stand-up comic. And for a more specific study — like biotech — check out the groups page for concentrated discussions.
You don’t need a labcoat and a pocket protector to appreciate MySDscience, just a healthy interest in the scientific research that’s changing the world we live in!
