For people who want to protect the art of running, there’s the Running Preservation Society. Casual joggers need not apply — this is a social network for runners who push themselves to their limit and beyond.

The dedication of these runners shines through in featured blog posts on the main page. Administrator SaveRun applauds Amy Jo, who just joined, for posting the following message on her profile page: “If you ran without sacrifice, congratulations. You just jogged.”

Members recently participated in a contest about “places to run before you die” by posting in a Forum category dedicated to the contest. Prizes included $500 worth of gear from Pearl Izumi. Even cooler? All entries were turned into a work-in-progress eBook called “Places to Run Before You Die.” Check out a preview of the gorgeous photos and inspiring words, and download a copy for yourself, here on the Running Preservation Society.
