Starting a Chain ReactionNing Network Spotlight
The Chain Reaction project is based on a simple idea, “that none of us on our own can change the world, not governments, not businesses, not charities. We succeed when we work together.” Of course, there’s few better ways to connect and mobilize a large number of people than by building a social network — so that’s exactly what they’ve done with the Chain Reaction social network.
Network Creator Laura Hyde has deftly used the Language Editor to change all instances of the word “Forum” to “Ideas,” making the social network’s forum the hub of discussion about how exactly to change the world, together. In the Ideas section, members are discussing how to best use the skills of the unemployed, get banks to support community projects and set up an urban garden. Members have also added photos from social activism conferences and networking events.
