On Monday we talked about using built-in media players and badges to help spread the word about your social network. Media players and badges from your social network are branded with your watermark and link back to your social network.
Just like badges, you can easily customize your social network’s built-in media players. By customizing your music, video and photo slideshow players, you can show off the great content on your social network across the internet.
By default, your media players will be themed to match your social network and will display your network icon as a watermark when embedded. You can further customize your social network’s media players by changing the color scheme and choosing what to display as the watermark on your media players.
You can choose custom colors for various parts of your social network’s media players:
- Text — Change the text and the color of the icons.
- Player — Change the background color of the bar containing the icons.
- Playlist — Change the background color of the music player.
The watermark on your media players is a stamp to help brand and promote your social network across the internet. Your social network’s icon is likely a good representation of your social network, and in most cases, works great as a watermark on your media players. However, you can also choose to display simply your social network’s name, a custom image, or no branding at all.
A great example of this is My Corgi, where Network Creator Sam has uploaded a custom image of the social network’s logo. It’s a simple, cute representation of the social network, and encourages people who see the media players across the internet to click through and check out the social network.
To customize your social network’s media players, head to the Manage tab and click the “Appearance” link. Under the “Basic Theme” tab, locate the “Media Players” section and customize away.
