Planned Downtime on July 20th for Launch of New Plans

The launch of Ning Mini, Ning Plus and Ning Pro on July 20th involves a significant update to our code base. As a result, we will need to take the Ning Platform down for maintenance beginning at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on July 20th. The maintenance may take up to two hours, after which Network Creators will be able to purchase the new plans and begin enjoying new features. Due to the nature of the maintenance, we may not be able to display individually branded maintenance pages. Networks will likely show a simple unbranded error message.

We apologize for the timing of this maintenance window. We scheduled it at this time for two important reasons. First, so we can stress-test the new code with full daytime traffic volume during the maintenance period. Second, we want to have every Ning engineer, product manager, and advocate on hand during the maintenance period and post-launch. Taking Ning Networks down is something we hate to do, but is critical in this important transition. We are committed to making the move to the new pricing plans as smooth as possible for you and your members.

    I want to choose the plan of $ 19.95 per month. but makes me select the plan year. can not be paid monthly? make 12 payments a year? or must be a single payment? is that I can only pay monthly.

    Hello, I was just a member of like 4 ning groups. I was told to create an account so I could be in these groups and Now I cant get into the groups because I cant afford to pay anything for the membership.

    What can I do or am I basically Out of Luck?

    I am specifically looking for NING APPS settings. I had one prior to upgrading today. I added 2 more. They all give me a blank screen. I figure there must be some settings somewhere?

    I just purchased my package which wasnt due untill Aug 3..seems we lost the music now instead of Aug..is it possible to get it back for now? and also I wanted to add just the music without the other features on the next package how much would it cost and is it possible to get that featire alone…we are seniors 60 and up who keep in touch with your ning group since MSN closed and we all love this group so much…I am paying for this out of my own pocket as most cannot afford any kind of a payment..I firsy chose the cheap package with no chat but they liked the chat so I upgraded..please let me know if there is anyway and what the price will be for the music feature…Thank you….Rose

      The Music player is part of the Ning Pro plan, MsSassy. It isn’t a separate option.

    Can ning arrange another payment option where we can also pay for 6 months or 12 months and get the discount.

    I would love to see an option where you can pay once the whole amount.

      Hi, Amber. We don’t have any plans to offer a 6 month plan, but we already do offer a 12-month plan for a discount. It’s on our pricing page.

    Groups will not be available with the mini plan then?
    Looks like i will have to leave the network then, such a pity for my group members, who have already faced the injustice of the family courts,and have had children wrongly taken into care, there are at least seven groups in my network, one that was started today called PATCH,and i don’t think the group admin had any idea, that she was going to have to pay.

    Ok, this is a big mess. I think this new plan to have everyone pay to have a Ning site is disappointing at the very least. Also it would have been nice and professional to let us know via email alerts a few days before that the whole system would go down for the switch over and an advance reminder for us to purchase one of the plans. No one, I didn’t remember when the change was going to happen… Ok, the main reason for my contacting you guys is: How long do we have to purchase one of the plans before our sites are completely/permanently removed? I’m on an extremely fixed income and will have to purchase one of the plans when funds allow; which may not be on Ning’s timeline…

    It is a shame that i will have to pay the money out of my own pocket, because PAIN does not get any funding, i am at present on the sick from work with crohns disease, which has been now for 8 weeks, this just adds to my financial woes, i haven’t decided what payment scale i will pay or whether to leave.

    Since I was already paying $19.95 per month prior to the switch to the new paid plans, will my site be automatically switched over to the new $19.95/month plan? I have asked this question previously, but have not received any Ning response.

    wht s the benefit for current premium plan users by adding a new plan..

    if I am purchasing new ning pro plan the middle of the month also same time my premium plan is running(paid) then there is any chance to get money back from the old premium plan.

    please make this clear for all the current premium supported network creaters. plz call me +919016191515(india)

      Any remaining balance will be applied to your new plan. So, you won’t lose any money.

    Um… why wasn’t an email sent to all administrators about the new pricing and the network being down I have people who are very excited about this website and would like for it to function. I am on a very tight budget and would like to have a ball park figure of the pricing.

    hmm… a blog post about this but no email alert? Seriously? I knew the switch over was happening and got the plans emailed to me over a month ago but when there is service disruption (planned I might add) I have to go looking for the cause. I would have liked to alert my community members. Maybe I missed something or didn’t get it but it looks like the last email I received regarding the change over was in May.

    Good luck to your renewal! I hope you can have a function to delete all photos at once, I had an experience where I uploaded a wrong photo folder with tens of pics, and had to delete one by one. (Deleting album won’t help)

    i dont see why i should be pleased or even happy as ive said before ive payed £4 approx per month just to have the name of the site on the page, from day 1, my site would be laughing if i payed $40 per month
    when it simply does not need so much space for uploads i be pounds out of pocket i would rather have a pay as you go option so i can control how much bandwidth/webspace i require,why can we have a group of who pay as you go,if my site had a larg comunity and post was regular them my view might be diffrent

    I would like to understand what I must pay.
    And I would like to be able to chose the special offers of advantages and discounts…

    I do not understand anything about computers or programs. What does App and Rss and all this words mean? And how can I do to take the maximum profit of the new advantages?

    Will all the advertisements, also Goggle´s disappear? How can I have my own domain paying the 19,xx$ plan?
    I am from Europe ( Spain) how much will the plans cost to me in €?

    I understand we have time enough to pay our plan till august 20th. Is it right?

    I’m sure this is for a good cause and all, but I honestly think this is entirely unfair. I have been using Ning for a while and it has become one of my favorite sites, but now I cannot use it anymore because I can’t pay. I don’t understand exactly why it is necessary to make people pay now. I know for a fact that a lot of these forums on here are solely for roleplaying, and they will ultimately leave this site. I’m sorry that I will have to be leaving as well.

    Although Angels In The Midst (AITM) is a small site, we are excited to share in the new endeavor of ning. My bank debit card is also used as a Master Card wherever accepted. Will this be accepted for payment tomorrow? We are ready to get the show on the road!

    Finally, will our renewal date be June 20th, 2011? Or August, 2011.

    Hi… I am trying to plan a family reunion, now I’m not quite sure if I am the only one that pays this fee because I’m the one who created the page or does everyone who joins as part of my family have to pay? And just for a mini it’s 19.95 a month… To keep this page open? Wow!

      You may want to look a little closer, Veronica. Ning Mini is about $3 per month, and the cost is for the Network Creator, not everyone who joins. I encourage you to read the pricing page.

    I can’t log in since saturday evening….and the hole sunday nothing either…very very frustrating…
    neither to other ning scrapbook sites….but my sister could log in? what is happening?
    no warning at all and i can;t warn my members….I hope this is fixed by monday….

    i have this query even early before the announcement of the new pricing plan but still not answered by ning, i even emailed a letter of request. Can we pay through money transfer( western union, etc.) we don’t have credit card as you required by now. i need a response immediately.
