A Tour of Your Network’s Manage Page, Part I

Every now and then it’s not such a bad idea to take a quick tour of your network’s Manage page. We’re constantly adding new features and options for Network Creators and this is ground zero for taking advantage of them. In fact, we offer so many options for Network Creators on the Manage page, I’m breaking up this tour and spreading the love.

TrikePilot.com Goes Social

TrikePilot’s new social network on Ning has been met with enormous enthusiasm. After taking a one-year break from his former website TrikePilot.com, Network Creator Spencer Forman decided to play around with a TrikePilot network on Ning. He called it the “social edition” of trikepilot.com and altered the header to reflect this.

Good news. You can create a private beta for your social network on Ning with a click. We’d never leave you out in the cold.

If you already have a network, go to your Manage page and choose the Privacy option in the middle column.

Adding Google Analytics to Your Network

Detailed statistics can be one of the most useful tools in a Network Creator’s arsenal. On the “Manage” tab of your network, we offer some very basic network statistics, which include:

  • Unique Visitors (Users)
  • Pageviews (Views)
  • Sites Linking to Your Network
  • Page Popularity

These are a good start, but we wanted to take it to the next level. Thanks to great feedback on the Network Creators Forum, we realized that instead of re-inventing the wheel, it’d be a win-win for everyone if we made it dead simple to add Google Analytics code to your network. So we did.

As Ning continues to grow rapidly, adding new networks and people every few minutes, there are the inevitable party crashers. This is to be expected. Your network has safeguards today in place to protect your members from spam. It will have even more controls in place shortly.
