Enable Google Sign In

To allow your members to sign in using their Google credentials to access your Ning Network, head to the Sign up/Sign in page under the Members section of your My Network tab. Check the boxes next to the Google service in order to enable sign up and sign in with this service.

If you’re enabling this feature for the first time, you’ll need to create a Google App on Google’s Developers Console site.

Click “Create Project”. Set the Project Name and Project ID to the name of your Ning Network on the next screen.

Under APIs & auth > APIs > Google+ API,  click Enable API.

Under APIs & auth > APIs > Contacts API, click Enable API.

Under APIs & auth > Credentials, click Add Credentials, then select OAuth 2.0 client ID.

Click “Configure consent screen” and enter your Ning Network’s name for the Product Name, and hit Save.

Select “Web application”, and enter the following values, replacing “examplenetwork” with your Ning Network’s subdomain:

https://examplenetwork.networkauth.com
https://examplenetwork.networkauth.com/googleplus/callback

Once that’s completed, click “Create”. Copy the information you see listed here into your Sign up / Sign in settings, under (details) next to Google Sign-in.

Click the “Save” button. Now members who wish to sign in with their login information from Google will be able to do so. The first time they sign up, your members will see a window pop up, informing them that your network is requiring information from their account. To accept this connection, they can click the “Allow” button.

If you wish to disable either service at any point, go back to your Sign up/Sign in page under the Members section in your Dashboard. Uncheck the boxes under Sign up/Sign in. A lightbox will pop up, alerting you to how many members currently use this service, and that removing this function will prevent them from being able to sign in with these credentials.

Re-enabling this function at a later point will allow these members to reconnect with their Google credentials.
