Redirect Members When They Sign Up

When a new member signs up for your Ning Plus or Ning Pro Network, you can redirect them to the page of your choosing. To redirect your new members after they join your network, head to the Sign up/Sign in page under the Members section of your My Network Tab.

You can choose to send new members to the Main Page or their Profile Page when they complete sign-up. If you have a Ning Pro network, you can also send your members to a custom page by entering the page’s URL in the field to the right of “A custom page.”

Don’t see the option to redirect members at sign-up? If you have member moderation turned on, you won’t see this option. New sign ups who are pending approval won’t be able to comment until that membership is approved, so they are automatically taken to page with a message that explains this “in-between” visitor/member status.

Get even more control over redirecting your members upon sign up by using the Force Redirection option. Selecting this option will force new members who sign up in the middle of an action (e.g., Liking an item) to be redirected to the page you’ve designated rather than being sent back to the content they were acting on. You might consider using this option if you want all new members to immediately view the guidelines you’ve established for your Network. For Pro networks, another example might be if you want new members entered into an external database by having them redirected to that site upon sign up. In order to be sent the screenName of the new member so that their details can be accessed, just add ?id={screenName} as a parameter to the custom url. {screenName} will automatically be replaced with the API screenName of the new member, and can be used to query the Ning API for their details.

Once you’ve selected your redirection options, be sure to click the “Save” button to save your changes!
