You\u00a0can add facts about your Ning Network\u00a0or post your own customized announcements.<\/p>\n<p>While a broadcast message is a great way to spread important news, adding your own message to the Latest Activity feed is like leaving a short, quick reminder or announcement for all members to see.\u00a0Also, as\u00a0not everyone opts in to receive email notifications or reads message broadcasts, the Latest Activity feed is something they&#8217;re bound to see when they sign in to your network.<\/p>\n<p>You can add an announcement to the Latest Activity feed a couple of ways. To\u00a0share a quick note or highlight an event coming up, click on the Status Update\u00a0box on your main\u00a0page and share your message there. Pasting a link into the\u00a0Status Update box will\u00a0cause a message to pop up,\u00a0prompting you to shorten your URL to something like http:\/\/ning.it\/xlYtz.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3492\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/useittohighlightnewactivity1-559x600.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Announcement to Latest Activity 1\" width=\"585\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you see negative red numbers beneath your status update, that means you have entered more characters than are allowed. Using the URL shortener gives you more room to work with, and creates a nicer link.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3494\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/shortenurl2-600x431.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Announcement to Latest Activity 2\" width=\"585\" height=\"431\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another way to add an announcement to your Latest Activity feed is by\u00a0going to your My Network tab and clicking on &#8220;Activity Feed Message&#8221; link from the Content section. Select the first radio button next to the &#8220;Add facts about this\u00a0Ning Network&#8221;\u00a0drop-down menu to choose from various facts about your network, or select the second radio button to write your own message.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3500\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/add-facts-to-activity-feed3-600x466.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Announcement to Latest Activity 3\" width=\"585\" height=\"466\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Selecting the first radio button will allow you to choose from automatically-generated facts about your network to highlight particular features, items\u00a0or members.\u00a0Posting a fact, such as\u00a0there are 11 videos on your Ning Network, will create a link to the Videos feature within your message when it displays in the Latest Activity feed.\u00a0Posting a fact that\u00a0a particular member\u00a0has posted the most photos will create a link to that member&#8217;s Profile Page.<\/p>\n<p>Selecting the second radio button will allow you to create your own message. Your announcement can be up to 140 characters long, and can even include HTML. To\u00a0find out\u00a0which HTML tags you can use, see: <a href=\"\/help\/html-allowed-tags\/\">HTML Allowed Tags<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3503\" src=\"\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/create-your-own-fact4-600x342.jpg\" alt=\"Add an Announcement to Latest Activity 4\" width=\"585\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The numbers just above the &#8220;Add Message&#8221; button let you know how many characters you have available to enter in the space provided. If you see the numbers turn red with a minus sign before them, that means you&#8217;ve gone over the maximum limit and will not be able to post your message.<\/p>\n<p>Click the &#8220;Add Message&#8221; button when you&#8217;re done.
