{"id":3995,"date":"2012-04-12T23:14:37","date_gmt":"2012-04-12T23:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/help-o.ning.com\/?p=3995"},"modified":"2017-06-16T10:22:06","modified_gmt":"2017-06-16T10:22:06","slug":"control-the-privacy-settings-for-your-ning-network-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ning.com\/help\/control-the-privacy-settings-for-your-ning-network-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Control the Privacy Settings for Your Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can control the privacy of your Ning Network by navigating to the My Network\u00c2\u00a0tab and clicking on &#8220;Privacy&#8221; under Settings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Control the Privacy Settings for Your Network\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3996 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ning.com\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/28-600x509.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"509\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are several privacy options to choose from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Public-<\/strong> This means that members and non-members alike can view your Ning Network.<\/li>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Everything-\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>visitors can see all pages of your network without signing in.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Just the Main Page<\/strong>&#8211; visitors will have to\u00c2\u00a0sign in to your network to see any other pages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Private-<\/strong> This means that anyone who visits your Ning Network will be directed to a sign in page.<\/li>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anyone<\/strong>&#8211; anyone can sign up to join your network.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Only Invited People- t<\/strong>he invitation only option means that the only members\u00c2\u00a0who can join your Ning Network are those who have received an invitation from a current member or who have been sent the invitation link by an administrator. Invitation links remain valid for 90 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you want to make your Ning Network as private as possible, you can set your Ning Network to\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Private-<\/strong> <strong>Only Invited People<\/strong>, and check the &#8220;<a href=\"\/help\/approve-members-before-they-join-your-ning-network\/\">Approve new members<\/a>&#8221; box on the &#8220;Controls&#8221; page which is located under Members on the My Network page.<\/p>\n<p>You can change the privacy settings of your Ning Network at any time. If you change it from Private to Public or vice versa, your network will briefly go offline while the changes take effect.<\/p>\n<p>You can take your network offline at any time\u00c2\u00a0by clicking on the &#8220;Take Offline&#8221; link and clicking the &#8220;Save&#8221; button.<\/p>\n<div class=\"box box_blue info_box\">\n<strong>Can I be Googled?<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0If you set your network to be private, Google will not be able to index it. Want to be public but make specific pages private?
