The Ning API respects the visibility settings of your content, and the same permissions apply via the API as when viewing the content through a web browser. There are 4 visibility settings:<\/p>\n

Everyone (public)<\/strong><\/dt>\n
Everyone can view the content item<\/dd>\n
Members<\/strong><\/dt>\n
Only signed in members of the site can view the content item<\/dd>\n
Featured Members<\/strong><\/dt>\n
Only featured members of the site can view the content item<\/dd>\n
Administrators<\/strong><\/dt>\n
Only administrators of the site can view the content item<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n

Additional notes about visibility settings<\/a><\/h2>\n

An exception to the visibility rules is made for the Network Creator and for any administrators of the network. They can see all content, regardless of visibility settings.<\/p>\n

For content included on the home page or a custom page, there is also an option to show content only to non-members, users who are not signed in. Content with this setting will only be available to Network Creators and administrators via the API.<\/p>\n
