When you set up a feature (such as a Blog<\/a>, Forum<\/a> or Photo<\/a> feature instance)\u00a0on your Ning Network, you have the option of enabling native<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, or Disqus comments. Disqus<\/a> is a great way to allow visitors to your network to comment on your network’s content without having to sign up for membership.<\/p>\n

Setting up a Disqus account is easy:<\/p>\n

  1. Head to the the Disqus signup page<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Sign up with your Twitter or Google account, or sign up with an email address instead.<\/li>\n
  3. Complete your profile by entering your email address, then choose a username and password for your Disqus account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Once your Disqus account is all set up, create a shortname for your Ning Network so that you can use Disqus comments on it.<\/p>\n

    Here’s how:<\/p>\n

    1. Put your Website’s name and shortname will be generated automatically. At this point save “Your unique Disqus URL” that was created for later.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Select a category for your network.<\/li>\n
    3. Choose a default language of the comments section.<\/li>\n
    4. Click “Create Site” and on the following page select a Disqus subscription plan you wish to have.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      On the following page scroll down to select Choose the “Install manually with Universal Code” option and continue to the following page\u2014you don’t need to copy or paste any code into your network.<\/p>\n

      Now, you’re ready to go to the Social Site Manager<\/a>\u00a0and select the feature you want to use with Disqus commenting. In the General section of your feature’s Page Settings, click on the drop-down menu next to “Comments” and choose “Disqus”.<\/p>\n

      Not seeing Disqus in the “Comments” drop-down menu? \u00a0Make sure your feature instance is visible to everyone.<\/p>\n

      Private or member-only feature instances will not be able to utilize this commenting option.<\/strong><\/div>\n

      Once you select that option, you will be prompted to enter the Disqus shortname, which is a unique Disqus URL that you saved earlier<\/span>. Save your changes, and any visitor with a Disqus account will now be able to comment on your blog.<\/p>\n
