How RSS Works

How RSS Works

Feeds are a simple way to stay updated on information you care about. Most websites offer them in one of two kinds: RSS (which stands for “Really Simple Syndication”) or Atom. To find the feed, you’ll usually want to look for a little orange or blue icon or an RSS label.

You can paste the feed’s URL into a feed-reader application, like Google Reader, Bloglines or NewsGator, or use the feed reading feature built into a page like iGoogle, My Yahoo!, or Netvibes. This way, you’ll always know when your favorite network is updated. You can also use RSS feeds to get information from dozens of sources from within your feed reader.
