Block an Email Domain or IP Address from Signing Up

If you find your network is being spammed or harassed by a particular email domain or IP address, you can prevent anyone using it from signing up on your Ning Network. Head to the Sign Up/Sign In page in the network dashboard to get started!

To block an email domain, enter it in the first text field in the following format: @domain.com. When you’ve specified the domain, scroll down and hit the “Save” button to block it. If someone using that domain tries to sign up, they’ll see the following error message: “Please enter a valid email address.”

To block an IP address, type it into the second text field using the following format: 111.222.333.444. Similar to blocking an email domain, once you’ve typed in the IP address, scroll down to save your changes. Anyone signing up using a blocked IP address will see an error message: “Based on the information you have provided, you are ineligible to register for a new account.”

Error messages are kept vague to prevent spammers from working around the restrictions you’ve set up. However, if someone uses the “I still can’t sign up” link to send a problem report to Administrators on the network, that report will include the member’s email and IP address, as well as whether either is blocked.

If you want to remove the block on a domain or IP address, just click the “X” button beside it, then click “Delete” to confirm.
