Find a Retired Theme

If you are using the Classic Appearance Editor, and want to add a retired theme to your network, you can grab the CSS code for it here and copy and paste it into the Advanced section of your network’s Appearance page. These themes run on old CSS that is no longer supported, and do not work as is in the Design Studio.

If you’re interested in learning more about CSS to customize your Ning Network, we recommend checking out W3C’s CSS section for great tutorials and downloading Firebug for experimenting. If you’re new to CSS, you might want to play around with it on your test network you’ve created for testing purposes. This way you don’t have to worry about making mistakes on your live network.

Simply click on a theme below and copy all of the CSS code that is displayed on the next page. Then visit your Appearance page (or, if you are a member, go to your My Page and click on the “Manage My Page” link underneath your Profile Photo) and click on the Advanced tab. Paste everything in to the space that opens below.

Please be aware that this will overwrite any code that already exists.

If you know what code you’d like to retain on your network, either don’t erase it, or copy it elsewhere to re-insert later. Save your changes and you’ll be all set!

Please read these advisory notes before using the retired themes:

• These are unsupported themes and are provided “as-is” for your convenience. You’re on your own if you notice any minor visual glitches, but nearly anything can be tweaked by editing the CSS.
• The code below, when pasted into your Advanced panel, will override most of the standard “point and click” side of the Appearance page, so you’ll need to tweak the CSS to adjust colors, fonts, etc. Logos, however, should still work.
• If you want to switch back to a standard (supported) theme, simply choose a new theme from the thumbnails on the Appearance page. Your pasted-in CSS will be then be wiped out, giving you a clean slate.
