Here at Ning, we pay close attention to customer feedback. Ning Creators consistently remind us how important it is to have complete freedom to customize their online community experience. An important request around this idea has been for a more streamlined member registration and sign-in process. After all, who has the time to create and remember yet another username and password?
We’re getting closer to the launch of our new pricing plans on July 20th, and I’d like to take a few minutes to provide Network Creators with several additional details about the transition process for those of you who are interested in purchasing the Ning Mini plan.
We’re less than a week away from offering our three new plans. July 20th. That’s next Tuesday. We’ve been tying up loose ends and preparing for what promises to be a very busy first week of the “new” Ning.
To help everyone get prepared, we’ve been blanketing the Creators Network with information about the plans and answering as many questions as possible. We want everyone to feel like they have plenty of time and all the information they need to make the best decision for their members.
We’re excited to announce that Ning Virtual Gifts, which we first talked about here, is just around the corner. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a random act of kindness, these virtual gifts will give your members another way to meet and develop relationships with each other.
For Ning Creators and members alike, adding content is an essential part of any Ning Network. When it comes to adding text, the text editor members rely on should be as easy to use as possible. Starting tomorrow, adding and editing text on Ning will become even easier.
Today, we run Google Ads on the right-hand side of Ning Networks that don’t have the Go Ad-Free premium service.
Starting this Wednesday November 4, you may notice some changes to the ads that display in this right-hand column. We will start mixing in display ads, along with the contextual text ads that you currently see. We will also start targeting ads separately to Network Creators and members, so you may begin soon to see ads that only you as the Network Creator are seeing from Ning.
I’m excited to introduce Leaderboards for your Ning Network. Leaderboards are ordered rankings of the top members and content on your Network, and they’re powerful for two reasons:
- For Creators, Leaderboards make it easy to discover and promote the best of your Network.
- For members, Leaderboards spark friendly competition, establish reputation, and encourage deeper, more persistent engagement.
With today’s launch, you have the power to make use of Leaderboards in the perfect way for your Network. You can view the latest trends on your Network Dashboard, add Leaderboard pages to your top-level tabs, and even add a Leaderboard module to your Main Page. Details below!
Since our February update to the Latest Activity feature, we’ve received some great feedback. Based on your feedback and the data we’ve been watching, we’re making a set of changes to the Latest Activity feature in June.
In addition to tweaking text and adding a few links, the big change is adding back member photos – and links to people’s profile pages – in the Latest Activity feature.
It’s been a little over a week since we launched Leaderboards for your Ning Networks. Since then, we’ve been busy working on several new features to make your Network Leaderboards even more powerful. Many of these come straight out of the requests you made on the Ning Creators Network — Thanks for your feedback!
